The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions was driven by our belief that women are making the best music today. First presented in 2019 at a decommissioned power station Pasir Panjang Power Station with a stellar roster of performers including Mercury-prize nominee Cate Le Bon, British indie pop band Kero Kero Bonito, singer-songwriters Soak from Ireland and Norwegian artist Anna of the North.

In 2023, the series returns with an eclectic mix of Asian and Asian-American/Canadian performers like Ichiko Aoba, thuy, Lyn Lapid, Deb Never and Luna Li, all artists on the rise. Also, it boldly presented an upsized programme with a series of film screenings helmed by female directors, a pop-up bookstore covering gender-neutral and socially topical topics, and a DJ stage giving female electronic artists a dedicated platform.

Alex Blake Charlie Presents is a side show format of the festival, which highlights the next generation of unique and compelling musicians in a myriad of programmes throughout the year. Rooted in the same forward-looking philosophy which has made the main festival a stand-out in the regional circuit, it is always on the look-out for the latest artists who will make a difference.
